2G/3G’s Days
Are Numbered

Losing data? Having calls dropped? U.S. carriers have already stopped activating new non-LTE devices on their networks, and some have started decommissioning service on their 2G and 3G networks with plans to move exclusively to 4G by January 2020.

On top of that, Microsoft® will end its extended support of Windows® Embedded and Mobile operating systems starting January 1, 20201 . That means more security risks and diminishing capabilities from your legacy Windows devices.

Preempt these service issues now by migrating to Zebra's Android devices on your preferred carrier's LTE network.

1 Zebra’s Windows 10 rugged tablets will continue to receive full Microsoft support. They are not affected by Microsoft’s termination of support for Windows Embedded and Mobile operating systems.

You can’t avoid migrating.

Verizon stopped activating new non-LTE devices on July 1, 2018, and will decommission service on their 2G/3G network by Jan. 1, 2020.

AT&T has already decommissioned their 2G network and has announced shutdown of their 3G network by February 2022.

Why not take this opportunity to preempt service issues by migrating now to Zebra devices on Verizon and AT&T’s LTE network?

T-Mobile® and Sprint® have not publicly announced plans to shut down or cease activations on their networks.

In Verizon’s case, they will no longer activate 2G/3G devices, including repair and replacement parts starting July 1, 2019.

In AT&T’s case, they may start to remove 3G resources in some markets for use with LTE or 5G systems.

It depends on your customer agreement. We recommend that you contact your carrier for additional clarification.

Zebra will continue repairing devices that are within their support life cycle per standard process, covered under a valid Zebra OneCare contract.

In any location where there is no 2G/3G/CDMA service, your devices will not be able to connect to the network and will have no service.
